Friday marks the first full week of our web site being up and another week happily spent with fantastic colleagues! It's amazing how word is spreading about our service and people are understanding more and more what our students are aspiring to and achieving. We have already had more than 1,900 views of our web site which is wonderful. Very soon students will take ownership of various elements of the web site in class so you can look forward to many more first hand accounts of day to day activities in the community and on job sites!

Thank you to K.C Maddelein - talented and warm hearted Coach at Vision Quest in Naperville who does a wonderful job of hosting work site students and encouraging their vocational skills. In return - she is grateful to our Bloom Room students for providing her with a beautiful arrangement each week! Thank you for the recognition Vision Quest!

Watch our student presentation, starting at 14mins. Tonight a small group of our staff and students presented the concept of microConnections to the School Board Meeting. The students did a wonderful job of explaining all the exciting developments at Connections - including Eco Connections, Connections Cares, The Bloom Room, our Twitter and our new web page. We were so proud of them! At the end of their presentations they were surprised and honored to each receive a certificate of recognition of representing exactly what the District aspire to promote in each student. Our students were given the 'District Mission Maker' awards.

We are excited to share our vocational experiences with you, through first hand accounts, as students learn to navigate the world of volunteer and paid employment. We will be posting each week about the ins and outs and ups and downs of these work experiences. We will share our views on what jobs to apply for, when to consider a volunteer experience, how to apply for jobs, interviewing successes and failures, securing a position, how to handle the let down of not being chosen for the job as well as how to plan for and succeed on your first day at work and much, much more! Welcome to our community. We look forward to connecting with you! |
